Water/Vacuum Truck Driver

LOCATION:   Aneth / Montezuma Creek Area, Utah

PURPOSE

This position is responsible for the safe operation of vacuum trucks and equipment to complete water hauling from well to disposal site. Must safely operate the vacuum/water truck and perform other duties such as cleanup, mobilization and general maintenance of the equipment. Duties also include preparing documentation, reporting and participation in safety programs

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Drives required equipment safely to and from location
  • Safely transports hazardous & non-hazardous waste while operating company vehicles
  • Loads and unloads fluid at well, workover, facility and spill sites
  • Verifies that the load, tools, equipment, and materials are secured properly before transporting begins
  • Labels, marks, and manifests shipments in accordance with applicable DOT regulations and Elk policies, practices and procedures
  • Completes the associated paperwork for each job to include pre and post-trip inspections, work tickets, electronic logs
  • Performs routine maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Perform duties such as clean-up and mobilization of the equipment
  • Completes a vehicle inspection report to assure vehicles and equipment are safe to operate before leaving company premises.
  • Properly document all Company, Federal, State, and Customer paperwork as required by law and/or established policy in a clear and legible manner
  • Operates and maintains trucks and equipment per manufactures recommendations
  • Obeys all traffic laws and regulations when operating and driving a company vehicle
  • Immediately reports all accidents, near misses, and injuries involving employee or others while operating company vehicles/equipment to immediate Supervisor and the Elk EHS Department
  • Recommends changes and improvements to safety and services based on job experience & observations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

  • Oil, water and gas gathering, processing, separation, sales and injection facilities
  • ESP wells, flowing wells, rod pump wells, injection wells, flow-lines, injection lines

Chemical/Integrity Program Coordinator

 LOCATION:   Field

DEPARTMENT:   Operations

PURPOSE

Work with and coordinate activities with all levels of vendors and company personnel to manage the production chemical program to continually optimize costs, improve performance and reduce chemical-related failure rates.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Responsible for coordination and technical troubleshooting of production chemical technologies across field wide applications (ensure consistency in approach, design, execution, monitoring and optimization of chemical programs)
  • Develop and maintain chemical data tracking system with KPIs for critical performance
  • Provide support services to engineers to execute agreed upon integrity assurance plans.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor start-ups of new applications and trials of new chemistries and applications
  • Support injection assurance, data analysis, and reporting recommendations (technical troubleshooting)
  • Coordination with all levels of operator personnel to meet / exceed agreed on goals and be the trusted chemical advisor to all levels of operator personnel
  • Review all technical and commercial aspects of chemical treatment programs
  • Experience in chemical related monitoring programs and product selection techniques
  • Maintain good housekeeping at all work locations.
  • Actively manage inventories of chemicals to ensure continuous supply.
  • Actively participates and be proactive in all environmental, health and safety programs.

  • Experience managing a multiple-vendor chemical program with vendor and product evaluation, selection and management is required.
  • Demonstrated experience of developing, implementing and managing a chemical monitoring program is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in artificial lift failure analysis and mitigation. 
  • Chemical lab experience is strongly desired.

Rig Derrick Hand

LOCATION:   Utah

DEPARTMENT:   Elk Well Service

PURPOSE

The Derrick Hand is responsible for assisting the Operator with any equipment maintenance and leading the crew and for all activities conducted from an elevated position in the rod basket or tubing board.   The Derrick Hand will operate the Rig’s Pump, Manifold and Pit Skid and the Power Swivel.   Performs other related duties as assigned.   It is assumed that the Derrick Hand will be the relief operator in the absence of the Rig Operator.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Assists the operator in rigging up and down, lining up the well service rig with the well.
  • Verifies the derrick is properly scoped out, anchored, and devices are properly deployed.
  • Sets hydraulic jacks, handles pads/boards and assists in attaching the guy wires to the anchor.
  • Responsible for all elevated work associated with rigging up/down (i.e. removing horse head from pumping unit).
  • Drives the crew truck as needed.
  • Drives the Rig in mobilization/demobilization in the absence of the Rig Operator.
  • Assists in picking up or laying down tubing, manually lifting the tubing from the rack onto the work floor or vice versa.
  • Assists in walking the rods when laying down rods.
  • May be required to work floors or operate the rig when needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Reports any safety hazards, accidents or maintenance issues to the rig supervisor.
  • Ensures that work carried out is in compliance with company policies and procedures and according to safety regulations.
  • Works the floor or operates the rig when necessary.
  • Maintains and inspects climbing devices and fall prevention equipment.

Rig Operator

LOCATION:   Utah

DEPARTMENT:   Elk Well Service

PURPOSE

The Rig Operator is responsible for organizing the rig crew (Floor Hands and Derrick Hands), conducts Job Safety Meetings, delegates the collection of materials and equipment needed to perform services, drives the Rig to the work site, operates the rig and equipment and directs the crew to set-up and prepare the rig for the tasks to be performed safely. The Rig Operator supervises crewmembers while rig operations are in process, maintains productivity standards, documents services performed, the billable supplies used during the process and the time elapsed while performing Rig services.  This position requires a high sense of responsibility, safety, motivation and the willingness to make decisions and to be held accountable for those decisions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Carry out all assigned activities as assigned by Workover Foreman.
  • Provide work direction to assigned rig crew and support services/contractors to ensure timely and organized service operations related to well operations and maintains productivity standards for all rig employees.
  • Hold all assigned contractors to high standard of safety/environmental performance and ensure compliance to Elk’s Safety Manual and pertinent regulations/standards .
  • Perform daily rig report/field ticket as required, ensuring rig tickets are correct as to pricing on rig rates, re-billable items and hours for crew.
  • Ensures all crew members are at work on time and properly prepared.
  • Operates the rig and equipment in accordance with Company Operating Procedures and Safety Policies.
  • Maintains contact and communication with Rig Foreman.
  • Be aware of simultaneous operations and able to coordinate vendor and contractor groups on location as needed.
  • Drives crew truck and maintains good housekeeping.
  • Maintains and inspects tools and equipment.
  • Reports any and all incidents immediately.
  • Perform all required equipment inspections-workover rig, fall arrest system, derrick, hoisting, and mud pump.
  • Perform Blowout Preventer (BOP) inspection, testing, and installation as needed.
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues; to include performing worn equipment recognition checks and turning in maintenance requests for repair or replacement of equipment as needed.
  • Perform JSA/DWP and tailgate meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform pipe tallying, rigging up and down, nipple up and down of BOP units, and pipe handling.
  • Responsible for keeping worksite, equipment, and tools clean and in good working order.
  • Perform day to day lubrication and minor adjustments of equipment.
  • Perform use of Hazard ID programs and means of documenting hazards.

Rig Pusher

LOCATION:   Utah

DEPARTMENT:   Elk Well Service

PURPOSE

The Rig Pusher is responsible for assigned workover rig activity in the Greater Aneth field.   Works closely with management to assist in the planning, coordination, evaluation, scheduling and daily rig activity in accordance with safety standards, company practices and regulatory requirements. This position requires a high sense of responsibility, safety, motivation, accountability and decision making 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Works with engineers, vendors, and technical personnel as well as service/material providers to assist in developing contingency plans regarding well service work during procedure preparation (proactively) and concurrent with job execution (reactive).
  • Participate with Elk Operating Service Operations Group in meeting budget and project goals.
  • Participates in on-the-job training.
  • Commitment to excellence. 
  • Identifies what needs to be done and takes action to achieve a standard of excellence beyond job expectations.
  • Assist in planning activities so that required materials and services are available when needed and operations proceed in an efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Investigate and recommend contingency plans to minimize lost time.
  • Optimize rig time each day being constantly aware of best practices, safety and best use of contractors and services.
  • Aggressively promote safe and efficient work with goal of zero accidents and zero wait/down time.
  • Attend pre-tailgate meeting and coordinate service needs with other parts of the operation.
  • Assists in directing daily operations of assigned rig/s and/or other well related work such as wireline operations, pressure testing, wellhead changes, anchor testing and replacement.
  • Helps to provide work direction to assigned Rig Operator and Rig crew related to multiple rig and non-rig well operations; scheduling activities and services with attendant support services/contractors to ensure timely and organized service operations.
  • Participate in daily Rig meetings.  
  • Deliver daily Rig reports and assure quality of schematics as required to ensure complete reporting in company reporting platform.
  • Communicates significant progress, events, or decision points to Well Service Superintendent and/or Manager in a timely manner.  
  • Effectively transfer the responsibility of safe operations to the Operator when off location and assist in establishing clear guidelines for decision making and required communication.
  • Analyze and investigate alternate methods of well work and discuss with Well Service Manager and Workover Superintendent for implementation.
  • Participate on the failure analysis team and implement the team’s recommendations and EWS SOPs.
  • Personally demonstrate commitment as follows: Ensure that all work is performed safely and in accordance with approved well programs, established Elk Petroleum policies, practices and procedures and in compliance with appropriate government, and environmental regulatory requirements (BLM, NNEPA and other agencies). Aggressively promote safe and efficient work with goal of zero accidents and zero wait/down time.
  • Participate in rig inspections on a regular basis, file inspections forms and work to address inadequacies per Best Practices.
  • Work closely with Company’s vetted Vendors, Suppliers, Service companies to insure compliance with Materials Cost/quotes, Delivery systems/methods and Handling Procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Rig Floor Hand

LOCATION:   Utah

DEPARTMENT:   Elk Well Service

PURPOSE

The Rig Floor Hand, under the direction of the Rig Operator, is responsible for assisting with any equipment maintenance in servicing oil and gas wells, rigging up and down, pulling and laying down rods, tubing, casing, liner and other functions specified by the operator or Rig Foreman.   Performs other related duties as assigned.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Assists the operator in rigging up and down.
  • Sets hydraulic jacks, handles pads/boards and assists in attaching the guy wires to the anchor.
  • Assists in picking up or laying down tubing, manually lifting the tubing from the rack onto the work floor or vice versa.
  • Assists in walking the rods when laying down rods.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Reports any safety hazards, accidents or maintenance issues to the Rig Operator.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures and according to safety regulations.
  • Lifts, operates, rigs up/down guy wires, hydraulic jacks, pads/boards and emergency gear which may include SCBA boxes, fire extinguishers and H2S monitors.
  • Lifts, removes, installs and operates well head, pumping units and other equipment designated by the rig operator or Rig Foreman.
  • Works on elevated platform handling rods, tubing and other equipment related with well servicing.
  • Lifts, attaches, installs and works with matting boards, tubing, rods, casing and associated well equipment, such as rod strippers, polish rods, etc.
  • Operates rod wrenches, tongs, elevators and other associated rig tools and equipment.
  • Receives on the job and other training to gain skills and competencies. 
  • Learns company policies and procedures. Reports maintenance issues to the Rig Operator.
  • Wears proper safety equipment on the job.
  • Attends and participates in safety meetings.
  • Understand and comply with company, customer, and health/safety policies, and any other regulations that are required.
  • Reports any and all incidents immediately.

Journeyman Electrician

LOCATION: Greater Aneth, Utah 

DEPARTMENT:  Maintenance

PURPOSE

The Journeyman electrician assists the field staff in the operation of oil production facilities, pumping units and overall electrical systems. The Journeyman electrician participates in installing electrical service, minimizing downtime and expediting repairs as well as executing work order assignment assigned to them by the electrical foreman. The Journeyman electrician will train and mentor an assigned apprentice electrician. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Troubleshoot problems and repair troubled electrical equipment, such as safety interlocks, engine, compressor, and pump shutdown panels, LOW-MED-HIGH voltage circuitry.
  • Perform electrical load calculations and wire sizing.
  • Perform raceway and cable tray sizing.
  • Perform maintenance on liquid-filled transformers.
  • Plan electrical projects, including repairs, maintenance and new installations.
  • Safely repair and construct new electrical systems around ongoing activity.
  • Assist operating personnel in the proper methods of operating electrical equipment and proper safety precautions to be taken. Emphasize proper safety methods to be used when working on or around electrical equipment.
  • Provide recommendations for purchase of electrical equipment.
  • Train others on basic AC/DC electrical and electronic theory; provide hands-on training in electricity, electrical transmission systems and electrical safety.
  • Work with EH&S in designing Safety Programs regarding electrical and electronic equipment
  • Work with foreman to design Maintenance Program.
  • Perform duties of relief Electrical foreman as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

Rig Mechanic - Apprentice

LOCATION:   Field 

DEPARTMENT:  Elk Well Services

PURPOSE

This position is responsible for the mechanical servicing and upkeep of all equipment. Incumbent performs scheduled and non-routine preventive maintenance, troubleshoots problems and performs necessary repairs under close supervision and according to company operating procedures in a safe manner.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Assists and performs diagnosis for problems on various types of oil well service equipment based on reports from the field, using the appropriate diagnostic tests and interpreting the results.
  • Assists and performs required repairs based on troubleshooting mechanical equipment.
  • Assists and performs routine scheduled maintenance work including overhauling engines and transmissions.
  • Assist in the disassembly of machines and repair or replace broken parts, clean and lubricate parts.
  • Assist in checking mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble, adjusting functional parts of mechanical devices as directed.
  • Assists and perform preventive maintenance inspection, including DOT annual inspections.
  • May be assigned to work in rig operation and company rig operating procedures, and receive other specialized training on the subject of Hazard conditions.
  • Assists in maintaining equipment records and filing systems as part of quality control and assurance programs.
  • Maintain good housekeeping at all work locations.
  • Look ahead in identifying parts/tools/supplies for upcoming repairs.
  • Actively participates and be proactive in all environmental, health and safety programs.
  • Be available for call-out and after-hours assignment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

  • One (1) year or more of work experience as a mechanics helper or similar capacity. 
  • Basic knowledge of workover rig mechanical equipment such as air compressors and dryers, centrifugal pumps, triplex pumps, instrument air systems, BOPE, brake systems, water cooling systems, rig transmissions and right angle drive boxes, hydraulic/air operated tongs, slips winches, etc.
  • Must have a Class C license, or valid CDL A or B driver’s license depending on the vehicle required to drive.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.
  • Perform rigging and lifting operations.
  • Assist Rig Mechanic in planning and prioritizing daily work for own level.
  • Train on proper use of various trouble shooting equipment and techniques such as laser alignment, equipment vibration identification and repair.
  • Must pass DOT drug test and physical by state and federal government DOT.
